Process Engineer (Chemical)

This position requires a process design engineer with a background in industrial manufacturing. This position requires judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria while devising new approaches to designs and process technology. 

Duties:
Responsible for the design, engineering, and support of complex capital improvement projects.
  • Acquire knowledge of existing processes and production designs.
  • Design and develop new processes and equipment working with outside engineering firms and vendors.
  • Identify, investigate, and evaluate feasibility of new or updated technology to improve existing processes.
  • Process design including PFDs, P&IDs, utility sizing, process layout, equipment specifications, submittals, selection, and drawings.
  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation to better understand and resolve process problems. 
  • Communicate data to senior management to facilitate decision making.
  • Active commissioning and calibration of process equipment.
  • Development of and documentation for preventative maintenance guidelines for existing and new processes and plants.
  • Provide process engineering and startup support for projects managed by other engineers.
  • Work on multiple, simultaneous assignments.
Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience working within an industrial chemical facility a plus
  • Previous experience working with converting processes such as coating, laminating, and slitting a plus.
  • Knowledge of supercritical CO2 drying technology, processes, and equipment helpful
  • Familiar with the design of ASME vessels and hazardous location equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to size processes (vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, piping) based on the process needs.
  • Familiarity  with emission controls regulations, sizing, equipment, and processes helpful
Required Qualifications:
  • 1 – 5 Years’ recent  experience in a manufacturing environment, chemical processing preferred 
  • Experience in Converting Industry a Plus
  • 1-5 years’ proven chemical process or converting engineering experience
  • BS Chemical Engineering or Engineering Physics
  • Demonstrate superior communication skills to deliver engaging, informative and well-organized presentations.
