Job Description

Summary:
Under general supervision of Construction Supervisor and within Hospital and department policies and procedures performs a variety of duties including demolition working with wood concrete plaster moving furniture and equipment electrical and plumbing installation or repair and other duties required to complete a construction project.

Responsibilities:
Prepares construction site for skilled trades people including demolition removal and clean-up of site and moving equipment files furnishings and materials.



As assigned by Crew Chief and in conformance with construction drawings assist the carpenters electricians plumbers and plasterers by obtaining needed materials mix and transport cement

and plaster; pull wires; install electrical and plumbing devices including hangers pipes valves; prepare and paint walls or install vinyl wallpaper; erect staging.



Assists in rough and finished carpentry work masonry work and installation of ceilings and floors.



Assists outside contractors in the performance of construction duties.



Performs various outside duties including mowing grass and related duties.



Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies procedures and objectives.



Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Miriam Hospital Facilities Management Department policy and the Fleet Risk Control Policy and Procedures.



Must have a good driving record meet and maintain the appropriate valid driver licenses in order to operate motor vehicles as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and in accordance with the Lifespan Fleet Risk Control Policy.



Performs other related duties as required.

Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

High school graduate or equivalent.



EXPERIENCE:

Three months of experience in general renovation and repair work.



Knowledge of hand and power tool operation.



Ability to read and understand operating instructions and manuals.



Works in shop area with frequent walking to other areas of hospital to visit work sites.



Some exposure to dust dirt noise and power tools when visiting work sites or when providing functional guidance to subordinates.



Hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety precautions.
