Job Description

Summary:

Reports to the Clinical Manager on the Center for Autism and Developmental Disability inpatient unit at Bradley Hospital. Coordinates oversees and develops inpatient and/or outpatient service to ensure quality and timely provision of care to patients. Provides direct patient care serves as a resource person and assists the Director or Clinical Manager in administrative tasks. Assists with recruitment hiring orientation and assessment of professional and support staff.

Responsibilities:

Clinical and Leadership Responsibilities

Demonstrates clinical and administrative effectiveness providing leadership to the combined behavioral and nursing staff/patient Program milieu.

Utilizes clinical and administrative expertise to make informed judgments regarding shift-to-shift patient care assignments to online clinical staff.

Participates in staffing for current and ongoing shifts.

Supports online staff to develop and maintain patient advocacy role.

Models and supports online staff to resolve conflicts and concerns through direct communication and proactive problem solving.

Strictly adheres to unit/program policies and procedures Joint Commission Hospital and Behavioral Health Program accreditation standards.

Communicates and documents significant clinical/administrative findings to Clinical Manager in a timely fashion.

Prioritizes the maintenance of a safe and dignified patient care setting.

Demonstrates clinical leadership expertise in the supervision teaching and evaluation of online clinical staff.

Ensures all staff participate in understand and carry out treatment plans for patients including specific behavioral or sensory interventions as ordered by the clinical team.

Participates in treatment planning threshold meetings debriefs training and consultations and specific case conferences as available.

Assists in coordinating the orientation of new staff members and evaluation of clinical competency.

Serves in the direct care role as needed or assigned.

Participates in emergency response to code events.

Leads and participates in staff meetings.

Assists in planning implementing and evaluating department goals.

Completes performance appraisals corrective and/or supportive actions of assigned staff.

Provide clinical supervision to BCBA and RBT interns and students.

Communication

Demonstrates the highest level of communication and professionalism with patients caregivers rehabilitation staff physicians and other health care professionals both within the academic medical center and in the community.

Maintains effective communication with all team members to implement excellent patient care.

Responds promptly positively and respectfully to co-workers patients and families

Displays open and welcoming attitude toward co-workers patients and families

Model effective delivery of feedback and coaching to co-workers in a manner that ensures accountability maintenance of self-esteem effective positive outcomes and support of individual team organizational needs.

Demonstrates full knowledge of current department policies and procedures; and assist in the monitoring of staff adherence to same

Coordinates in-service and education programs including maintenance of education records and mandatory learning

Collect data for submission to NDNQI and other quality reporting databases.

Facilitates and directs learning opportunities based on identified staff/department needs.

Participates in department quality assurance processes and audits staff documentation for quality timeliness and adherence to department policy.

Recommends quality assurance indicators as appropriate.

Additional responsibilities:

Effectively manages time recognizing and prioritizing urgent issues while assuring assigned work is completed * delegates tasks appropriately.

Follows through on commitments and assigned projects in a timely fashion.

Consistently documents required material keeps records of such and disseminates to appropriate parties.

Consistently follows established job scheduled and required procedure for assuring adequate coverage during absences.

Maintains required Hospital certifications.

Maintains required Program certifications.

o Attends a minimum of 6 Program meetings per year.

o Attends a minimum of 3 non-mandatory in-services per year.

o Maintains current CPR certification.

o Maintains current Safety Care certification.

o Maintains current ERS certification.

Other information:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Master*s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis or a related field.

Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Other combination of education experience and/or certification may be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience working with children and adolescents who present with developmental disabilities (autism and intellectual disability) and co-existing behavioral and psychiatric challenges; preference for prior experience working in a mental health setting including supervisory and administrative ability.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Performs independently within Program policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of Program policies and procedures may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Supervisory responsibility for up to 50 FTEs.
