WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES)...

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will help maintain our shared datacenter which will include, but is not limited to, the health of all network systems including servers, switches, routers and firewalls, network and user security, virtual technologies, disaster preparedness, backup and retention, and tier three help desk support. IT project management and collaboration on enterprise IT initiatives is required. Occasional off hours, on-call, and remote support is required.

This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, across several sites throughout Rhode Island. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of providing quality customer service and sound judgement, escalating issues as required and effectively and efficiently prioritizing tasks and projects as they present.

Essential Duties:

  • Maintains all network (physical/virtual) systems, maintaining a maximum uptime.
  • Maintain appropriate backup history and retention.
  • Maintains and tests failover options for virtual, physical, and WAN networks.
  • Monitors and applies security updates as needed and as required to keep systems safe and secure.
  • Works collaboratively with staff to provide quick resolutions to technical issues.
  • Monitors network usage (stats, space, WAN/LAN communication, routers, switches) and responds appropriately to issues.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU...

  • High degree of interpersonal skills to effectively interact with personnel at all levels.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt to change.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry as much as 35 pounds.
  • Demonstrated competence with IT project management, VMware, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Terminal Servers, Web Services, Various Office Products, Routers, SAN technologies, Firewalls, RMM & EDR, and VOIP systems is required.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to travel between locations within Rhode Island
  • A minimum of an Associates degree or equivalent experience and certifications is required.
  • 5 years of experience is preferred.
