Position Summary

US Sailing is seeking an experienced and analytical Accounting Professional with strong business acumen and the ability to support our organization's financial operations. The Accountant will report to the Controller and will be responsible for month-end close entries, month-end close reporting, cash, and balance sheet reconciliations. This role will help support the Controller in documenting and monitoring internal controls and assisting with the annual financial audit.

The Accountant will work with the entire finance team, which consists of 3 full time employees-Controller, Sr Accountant, Finance & Operations Coordinator. Duties include analyzing and reporting on financial performance, supporting and educating the business directors regarding the results of their respective divisions, driving the timeliness and accuracy of month end close and related financial statements.

The ideal candidate is an independent, resourceful, and detail oriented strategic thinker, who possesses strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and strong leadership skills. This role will require advanced Excel skills, as well as a deep understanding of the financial statements and how they interrelate.

What you'll be doing:

* Help drive month end close with accurate and thorough processes & entries

* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and review them with the directors on a consistent basis

* Support the Controller and the Organization's strategic operating plans and associated budget

* Support the Controller with the annual financial audit process

* Support the HR team to complete any Workers Compensation audit requests

* Work with the Compliance team to provide appropriate Financial Reports for USOPC audits and requests

* Support accounting, general ledger, and operations functions, by becoming well acclimated with the SAGE general ledger software package

* Complete monthly cash reconciliations

* Update monthly Investment fund tracking to determine appropriate balances

* Drive the development of a quarterly balance sheet reconciliation process

* Support the internal travel & entertainment booking and reporting System CONCUR/GANT

* Work with current banking partners regarding current processes and developing improved approaches to cash management, fraud prevention and FX payment

Who you are:

* A highly-motivated, results-oriented, and forward-thinking team player with a strong work ethic, credibility, and sense of integrity

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related

* Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis

* Minimum of 6 years of experience in accounting and or finance

* Possess strong personal communication skills

* A proven track record of success in finance or business

* Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and be process oriented

* Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner

* Proficiency in accounting software, Sage Intact & Sage Intact Planning experience preferred

* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel

* Belief in the Olympic movement

* Appreciation for the sport of sailing
