Position Description

The role of a Facilities Engineer is critical in ensuring that the facilities systems and equipment are operating and maintained to meet the organization's current and future needs. Your primary focus is to ensure that the physical assets are in good working order. You will plan, coordinate, and direct the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all mechanical systems and production assets. The position reports to the Facilities Supervisor and is an integral part of the management team.

The Facilities Engineer plays an essential role in maintaining the safety, comfort, and functionality of a facility. They typically work closely with other professionals, such as architects, contractors, and maintenance staff, to ensure that the facility is well-designed, well-built, and well-maintained. You will also work closely with management teams to develop strategies for improving energy efficiency, reducing costs and unplanned downtime and enhancing overall functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, and maintain critical systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Work with architects and contractors to ensure that buildings and renovations are designed to meet the needs of the facility
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs (using existing CMMS) to ensure that equipment and systems remain in good working order
  • Respond to emergencies, such as power outages or plumbing leaks and equipment breakdowns to minimize damage to the facility and business interruption
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure that maintenance and repair activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Additional tasks as requested by supervisor
Required Education & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field is required
  • Minimum 2 years of Facilities Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Prior experience with Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Knowledge in technical manuals, shop drawings and schematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and SolidWorks
