Job Description

Summary:

The Quality and Accreditation Specialist (QAS) reports to the Director of Quality Accreditation and Regulatory Readiness. Under supervision and within Gateway Healthcare/Lifespan policies the QAS performs a variety of duties in supporting all aspects of state licensing regulations Council on Accreditation (COA) accreditation standards Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) certification standards and other applicable federal and state regulations. The QAS will work collaboratively with all clinical programs disciplines within Gateway Healthcare across all sites and regions to support the implementation of the overall Quality Improvement Plan.

Responsibilities:

Supports the Director in ongoing evaluation of compliance with all state licensing regulations COA accreditation standards and CCBHC certification standards.

Assists the Director in bi-directional communication of key updates.

Collaborates with clinical program leaders and staff to assess and evaluate need for quality improvement initiatives.

Performs internal mock surveys and tracer activities to assess compliance with state licensing regulations and accreditation standards.

Facilitates and assists in the implementation of identified quality improvement initiatives.

Performs medical record audits of clinical documentation to assess and monitor compliance with state licensing regulations COA accreditation standards and CCBHC certification standards and with ongoing effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives.

Assists in investigation of client related safety concerns and events.

Provides support for clinical data abstraction and analysis for quality measures and metrics as identified by licensing accreditation and certification standards.

Participates in ongoing evaluation of health and safety as it relates to the overall environment of care.

Assists in the facilitation of education and ongoing training as it relates to regulations and standards.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Other information:

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor*s degree in social or human service health administration health science or healthcare related field required. Advanced degree in related field preferred. Behavioral health background preferred.

Experience

Experience with managing and supporting organizational accreditation (e.g. The Joint Commission CARF COA CMS) preferred along with knowledge of Behavioral Health. Experience with the principles and practices of health care quality management preferred. Project management experience preferred. One to two years of related job experience preferred.

Necessary Special Requirements

Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office Suites including Word Power Point and Excel.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and pleasant manner required.

Ability to manipulate and analyze data sets.

Ability to comprehend and interpret federal and state regulations.

Ability to handle multiple priorities and work with minimum supervision.

Ability to carry out duties independently and in a timely manner in a diversified setting.

Ability to facilitate and work within a complex multi-site environment.

Ability to make various presentations internally and externally.
