Overview
The Division of Student Affairs is seeking a Program Coordinator II to oversee a variety of projects within the division. Operating as a staff member within the Student Involvement and Leadership Office and primarily housed in Student Media.

A successful candidate will oversee a variety of projects supporting multiple departments in the Division of Student Affairs. The position will also lend support to the efforts of inclusion & belonging under the direction of the USU Student Media Program Coordinator III. This position will assist in managing experiential learning aspects of student media and provide marketing and communications support to student affairs and the overall mission of the university.


Responsibilities
Division of Student Affairs Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will handle marketing and communications projects from start to finish with total ownership while utilizing resources within Student Media and University Marketing and Communications (UMAC). They will create and execute marketing and communications strategies, plans and campaigns. Projects may include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing and executing media strategies.
  • Creating video content for online, social media and possibly broadcast distribution.
  • Planning and developing online content that follows best practices for accessibility conducting formal and informal research projects.
  • Determining budget guidelines and managing project costs.
  • Writing marketing copy for a wide range of formats, including print, websites, and social media.
  • Managing the purchase and placement of print, web, and social media advertising.
  • Assembling and creating content for weekly emails and monthly e-newsletters.
  • Communicating with customers within and outside of the university to develop programs and campaigns.
  • Assist with the training and advising of student employees working in video and graphic design to ensure that USU programs, services, and brand are consistent and of a high quality.

Student media responsibilities:
Within student media, they will be responsible for assisting in the management, supervision and operation of marketing facets, including but not limited to The Utah Statesman, Aggie Radio 92.3 KBLU-LP and Bluelight Media. They will help students develop industry-standard work to assist in equipping them with the tools to be successful by routinely evaluating management; marketing and advertising; business operations; and communications.

Advising may include, but is not limited to:
  • Advising advertising consultants employed by student media
  • Enforcing student media policies, procedures and deadlines
  • Facilitating strategic partnerships with advertisers for The Utah Statesman
  • Assisting with the underwriting and advertising of shows on Aggie Radio 92.3 FM, adhering to FCC guidelines for LP stations
  • Working with students on sales and graphic design to assign tasks and get approval from all parties
  • Submitting and reconciling payments with external and internal clients
  • Assisting with the development of training materials for two annual workshops
  • Coordinating and developing production schedules alongside student media staff

Additional responsibilities:
  • Perform other responsibilities for and serve on committees as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs the Executive Director of Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC), the Director of Involvement and Director of Leadership within Student Involvement and Leadership office.
  • Assist with departmental programs and initiatives including but not limited to:
    • Student Officer Training
    • Aggie Blue Leadership Conference
    • Collect and analyze assessment data
    • Synthesize and report data on programs with the goal of solving problems and refining procedures and systems for improvement
    • The Howl, Casino Night, End of Year Bash
    • Day on the Quad
    • Aggie Orientation
    • SILC Recruitment-Open Houses
    • USUSA Elections
  • Other Duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience; or a master's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within PR/journalism/marketing
  • Previous work experience with USU financial systems and processes
  • Experience with business development, especially involving outside sales.
  • Prior experience overseeing budgets and fiscal responsibility.

Within the scope and complexity of this position's responsibilities, qualified applicants will be expected to possess and demonstrate the following abilities:
  • Prior experience advising students, ideally within a higher education environment.
  • Proven track record of successful project management
  • Desire to be innovative and constructive. Demonstrated ability to grow programs, organizations or initiatives.
  • Demonstration of excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and act independently coordinating events, projects and initiatives.
  • The ability to create a team-based environment. Consistently demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
