As an Operations Manager for Motion Traction in Mount Olive, New Jersey, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of a local unit, encompassing the full scope of operations, manufacturing, production engineering, warehouse management, maintenance, continuous improvement, logistics and planning and fulfillment or a part of that. Also, you will ensure strict adherence within the operations with respect to policies and required health, safety and integrity standards.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop business action plans for the unit, aligned with business area/division/product group strategy and targets
  • Monitor plan implementation and tracks any deviations for corrective action
  • Prepare annual budget, oversee progress and determine measures to address cost related issues as necessary, to manage operations within the allocated budget and resources
  • Develop programs, projects, goals and metrics to lead the organization to the highest level of operational performance while optimizing working capital throughout operations
  • Ensure that the organization takes into account an overall value chain perspective to meet customer expectations as per agreed quality, service levels and lead time
  • Ensure a thorough understanding and fosters a culture of continuous improvement behaviors, methodology and processes within the organization
  • Assess risks and safety hazards and implements plans to ensure people and equipment safety
  • Provide support to sales staff to improve their understanding of customer requirements, enabling them to identify potential constraints and proposes solutions from an operational point of view
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations while monitoring and reporting progress and results
  • Ensure all staff (under scope) understand ABB's core values and group safety and integrity standards and act accordingly
  • Implement and ensures compliance with the ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies and processes in their assigned area
  • Ensure adherence to all internal and statutory regulations and policies pertaining to the teams in scope
  • Ensure integrity and compliance with ABB values and ethics in all activities across all teams in scope
  • Accountable for the health and safety of all employees and contractors for the teams in scope and continuous improvement in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) processes and integrity performance
  • Create and maintains a positive work environment for ABB
  • Promote and enable collaboration in the division, across divisions, business areas and teams to maximize results for ABB
  • Provide guidance to the teams and seeks knowledge for their own development and coaching/mentoring of the teams
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders in their own area of responsibility and ensures alignment
  • Ensure that their own area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed
  • Inspire, guide, motivate and develop direct and indirect reports within HR policies
  • Build effective, competent and high performing teams
  • Review organizational effectiveness and performs competence assessments and continuous skill upgrades
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 8 years of experience
  • Additional skills required in budget and performance management, strategy and strategy implementation, data analysis an reporting, end to end operations management, customer satisfaction, engineering and manufacturing processes, inventory management and control, logistics, resource management and capacity planning, governance
  • SAP knowledge required
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
